Since the signing of the nuclear deal with Iran, I have been warning that even if Congress had rejected this dangerous agreement, the damage would have already been done, as the Russians, the Chinese, and the Europeans are already preparing big business with Ayatollahs.

However, the vote on the deal has become a litmus test for the new Democratic Party, as the anti-Israel, anti-America ideologues of the far left have taken over what was once the party of President Harry Truman, a great lover of Israel, to the extent that most Democratic senators are afraid to actively oppose President Obama’s strong support for the Iran deal.

As of today, there is no longer any doubt. The deal will go through without the need for a presidential veto. Democratic Senators Richard Blumenthal (CT), Gary Peters (MI), and Ron Wyden (OR) have all just announced support for the deal, after which they immediately went through the now all-too-familiar ritual of trying to publicly justify their yes votes.

“While this is not the agreement I would have accepted at the negotiating table, it is better than no deal at all," Blumenthal insisted.

"This agreement with the duplicitous and untrustworthy Iranian regime falls short of what I had envisioned, however I have decided the alternatives are even more dangerous," Wyden wrote.

Oh, really? An agreement with a “duplicitous and untrustworthy” regime that allows them over 24 days warning before an inspection of nuclear facilities is less dangerous than what?

Let’s call a spade a spade. The Democrats have thrown Israel to the wolves to save their own political skin because the Dems are no longer pro-Israel. They are supporting a president who has pushed forward a foolish nuclear agreement that not one major political player in Israel - left, right, or center - is supporting. What does that tell you?

For one thing, it tells me that the Democrats are pro-Israel in name only. Why were there no Democrats demanding that Obama give Israel passive military support to help it launch a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear research facilities? Most Israelis understand that a nuclear Iran will be an existential threat to Israel, and therefore, those American Democrats who have stood firmly with their anti-Israel president against America’s staunchest ally and against America’s long-term security, should be exposed for the political whores that they are. And that includes a few Jewish senators whose only religious belief seems to be a dogmatic left-wing ideology that is a sick remnant of the 1960’s anti-war movement. There is nothing less Jewish than a knee-jerk belief that any deal is better than military action and that there is never a good military option.

Israel should launch a massive lightning preemptive strike on Iran and the U.S. should passively support its ally with any weapons that are needed to effectively do the job. Clearly, that's not going to happen with this president or any Democrat, so the question remains whether Israel will go it alone, perhaps with quiet logistical support from Saudi Arabia, which is so terrified of a nuclear Iran that it may be willing to ignore its reflexive Muslim hatred of Israel.

Barring that intriguing possibility, will we have to wait for a Republican president to stand with Israel? Will America’s suicidal Jews continue to vote for the Democrat?
