Originally from Petersburg, Virginia, Ben Packer moved to Israel in 1999, where he served in the IDF's Givati Brigade in the Gaza Strip. Ben served as a Rabbi on campus at Univ. of North Carolina and at Duke Univ. Ben now serves as Director of the Jerusalem Heritage House (www.heritagehouse.org.il) and Co-Director of Young Jewish Conservatives (www.youngjewishconservatives.org). He lives in the Old City of Jerusalem with his wife and 6 children....

I think we have what appears to be the making of a great government!

Even though not all cabinet positions have been anounced, things are off to a very nice start. Of course, having only 61 seats might not seem ideal, but so far, I believe we have already seen some very positive signs from this Government.

From what we know of the coalition agreements, it really seems like everyone in the Government has received a very nice deal for their constiuents and the country as a whole.

-The Haredim (UTJ and Shas) have already begun to obliterate all of Yair Lapid and his gang's previously enacted evil decrees.

-Bayit Yehudi has secured important and influential cabinet positions (unlike foreign minister, which has little influence on any actual policy) and is poised to implement changes that will make the country signficantly better and more secure.

-Kulanu has been given the tools that that they claim are necessary to solve the housing crisis and other standard of living issues. (Everyone is rooting for their success!!!)

-Likud, with the help of their coalition partners, expanded the cabinet and will now enjoy the fruits of electoral victory, as they should.

-Yisrael Beiteinu and Avigdor Lieberman are out. Maybe not a total positive, as a few more seats in the coalition would be nice. However, after the dreadful performance of Yitzchak Aharonivch as Minister of Public Security (specifically his pathetically abyssmal reaction to the constant terrorist violence in the Jersusalem area since the kidnapping of the three boys), maybe Mr. Lieberman does need a little time on the outside to think things over - virtually everyone else in his party will have time to do so as well, most likely in jail.

-the "Left" is furious - this is always a good thing! ken yirbu!

We've already witnessed, in a very short time, some lovely altercations in the Knesset between Knesset members. And I truly did find them to be lovely. For a long time the "left" has gotten away with all kinds of terrible things, including publicly besmirching the actions of the army, even in times of war (like was done this week in the Knesset by Zehava Gal-on - for which she should be ashamed!). She and the rest of her self-hating, defeatist comrades should take it square on the chin repeatedly from members of the new government.

This is far and away the greatest Israeli Government we've had in some time, if not ever (Of course, Yachad not making it in was very disappointing). Let's hope and pray that it lasts for a solid amount of time and that many, many positive things are accomplished.  Hopefully we start to realize that we need to all be in this together in order to succeed. There's no other choice with the current government and I for one think that its a good thing.
