Pasadena, California was targeted with numerous antisemitic flyers on Friday, Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The hateful flyers were created to appear like newspaper clippings. Local residents began seeing them early Friday morning, Pasadena Now reported.
They were found on numerous driveways and yards inside plastic sandwich bags weighed down with rocks, in a similar manner to past antisemitic flyers distributed in cities and towns across the US.
The flyers were found on every property on South Madison Ave, from the 500 to 1,000 block, according to reports. But nearby streets appeared not to have been targeted.
“This is one of the most disturbing things that happened in all the years I’ve lived here in Pasadena,” a resident told Pasadena Now.
At least 50 bags were collected by Pasadena police, they said.
The group behind the antisemitic propaganda appears to be the Goyim Defense League, which has orchestrated drops of antisemitic flyers in many other parts of the US.
Similar flyers were found last week in the parking lot of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The ADL describes the Goyim Defense League as a “loose network of individuals connected by their virulent antisemitism. The group includes five or six primary organizers/public figures, dozens of supporters and thousands of online followers” and operates GoyimTV, a video platform streaming antisemitic content.
“GDL’s overarching goal is to cast aspersions on Jews and spread antisemitic myths and conspiracy theories. This includes frequent references to Jews having undue power through their “control” of major institutions such as media networks, the economy or the government, or disparaging Jews as degenerates,” the ADL said on its website.
