Rabbi Meir Mazuz, head of the Kisei Rahamim Yeshiva, spoke in a class about the negotiations taking place in the President's Residence on the issue of judicial reform.
According to Rabbi Mazuz, these talks will not bring about a solution to the disagreements between the two sides.
In the class, Rabbi Mazuz called former Supreme Court Chief Justice Aharon Barak's revolution a "judicial reform," and Barak himself an "idol."
"People were so connected to their idol worship that they cannot disconnect from it," Rabbi Mazuz said. "We see the judicial reform, it's been around for 50 years maximum, but to leave it and to return to the straight path, to argue and reach a conclusion - that, no. They are not able to disconnect themselves from the idol they worship, whose name is Aharon Barak."
Slamming the opposition MKs, Rabbi Mazuz continued, "They do not see anything, their eyes are closed. If they had wisdom they would look at history, [at] how the Second Temple crumbled due to baseless hatred."
A few months ago, during his weekly class, Rabbi Mazuz said, "Now, we have arrived at the stage of, 'Return our judges' (a verse from the prayers - ed.). That is why there is a war here against the Supreme Court. 'Return our judges as of old.' The nation does not know anything. Aharon Barak declares, 'I am the judge here, I am the boss here.' Okay, fine, you are the boss here - but temporarily. Soon it will be, 'Flash lightning and scatter them' (Psalms 144:6) - say what you want."
Barak is the Hebrew word for lightning; in Hebrew the verse is, "Brok barak vetafitzeim."
