Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Transportation Minister Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism) on Tuesday morning participated in a Memorial Day ceremony in the southern city of Netivot.
Speaking at the ceremony, Maklev said, "Unity, and mutual responsibility, are our obligations at this time."
He emphasized, "In the past year, the number of disagreements has increased, and the polarization between the different parts of the nation has grown.
Maklev, who did not cancel his participation in the ceremony, despite the pressure to do so, added: "Our enemy does not differentiate between us. Only a nation which knows to preserve its unity, can, with G-d's help, prevail above all others."
"Unity," he added, "is an important value and the basis of our existence and survival. We must unite hearts, because the foundation of our existence is our unity."
