A soldier serving in the Golan region suffered a gunshot wound to the leg on Sunday. The soldier’s injury appears to have been caused by an accidental weapons discharge.
He was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital, where he is in moderate condition.
The IDF is investigating the circumstances.
Last week two soldiers suffered light-to-moderate wounds in an accident on Israel’s northern border. The two were hurt when explosives they were working with detonated before they were at a safe distance.
There have been two other accidental shootings in the IDF in recent months, as well. In one case a soldier was moderately wounded when he was hit by a bullet due to a commander’s mistake while cleaning a weapon.
In the other case, a soldier accidently shot himself in the leg, and suffered moderate injuries.
