A head-on collision between an Israeli vehicle and a Palestinian vehicle occurred Thursday morning on route 356 near the village of Carmel in the Hevron Hills region south of Gush Etzion.

Two people who were in the Israeli car were injured, one moderately and one lightly, and were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. The Arab Palestinian driver sped away from the scene after the collision.

Early indications are that the Palestinian was driving without a license, and that the car is not registered. Police and IDF forces are conducting a search for the vehicle in the surrounding area.

The road has been partially blocked until the preliminary investigation is concluded.
