Last Saturday, January 28th, 2023, a shooting attack took place toward the Almog Junction, adjacent to a restaurant in the city of Jericho.
This morning, following the attack, IDF soldiers operated in the Aqabat Jabr camp, apprehended wanted suspects, and surrounded several residences in which they hid. A number of suspects exited the first residence and surrendered themselves to the forces.
Following ISA intelligence efforts since the shooting attack took place, information was brought that showed the group members were hiding in a residence in the Aqabat Jabr camp adjacent to the city of Jericho while using the help of their families and the camp's residents and planning additional future terror attacks. During the security forces operation this morning, a number of operatives and assistants of the group were apprehended and transferred to ISA for investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
During the activity, armed individuals fired at the forces who responded back with live fire, hits were identified. No IDF injuries were reported.
The IDF and ISA announced that they "will continue to operate to thwart terrorist activities against the State of Israel."
