The Jerusalem District Court on Sunday morning the terrorist Arafat Irfaya, who was convicted of the 2019 rape and murder of Israeli teenager Ori Ansbacher in 2019, to life in prison plus 20 years
The judges wrote in the verdict, among other things, that the terrorist acted out of "brutal and inhumane behavior" and committed "brutal and fear-inducing acts".
"The song of her life ended with a scream," the judges added.
Noa Ansbacher, Ori's mother, testified in court about three weeks ago at the sentencing hearing in a voice choked with tears and said: "The very murder and loss of her is horrible and terrible, but unfortunately that is not all. It turns out that there is also the question of how a person leaves the world. For almost four years now, there isn't a moment that I don't close my eyes, and find myself there in the forest and hearing her screams. There isn't a moment that I don't see her, even when she couldn't scream, thinking about what she went through and how scared she was. It's not human."
Irfaya confessed to the murder in June 2020. The court determined that the terrorist attacked Ori Ansbacher with severe violence and brutality, and murdered her as detailed in the indictment. It was also determined that the offenses were committed out of a nationalistic motive.
Ansbacher, 19, left the Yaelim center in Jerusalem, where she served as a National Service volunteer, for a walk in the nearby forest. Irfaya, who was staying in the Jerusalem area without a permit, arrived with a knife.
The indictment stated that "the defendant spotted Ori and decided to kill her for being Jewish. He attacked her with severe violence and cruelty." It was also stated that Ansbacher struggled with the killer, but that he overcame her resistance and stabbed her many times until she died.
