Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot editor Ron Yaron published on Sunday morning an article on the topic of Arnon (Noni) Mozes' alleged conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Mozes is the publisher of Yediot Aharonot.
"Yesterday evening I understood that not only am I the editor-in-chief for the most important newspaper in Israel - I'm also the one in charge of the Richter scale," Yaron wrote.
"There's no way this newspaper would have survived such an earthquake. All of us, as one, would have left and found another home. And if that happened, Yediot Aharonot would have lost the power it currently holds, at least."
According to Yaron, Yediot Aharonot staff are faithful first of all to their readers, and only afterwards do they heed the publisher.
"Dear readers, we, the editors and the writers, are first of all faithful to you. Only afterwards are we faithful to those who pay our salaries.
"Mozes himself is unendingly faithful to his readers and his life's work. He is faithful to his father's and grandfather's legacy, which they founded 77 years ago."
However, Yaron also said the recordings of Mozes and Netanyahu are "very difficult" to digest.
Yaron concluded by writing, "What I am trying to say is that we are continuing as usual. We are not hiding behind anything, and we are all hurting. Nevertheless, we will continue working in good faith. We will work continue to work as faithfully for you today and every day."
