A French judge charged the machete-wielding teen that attacked a Jewish teacher with "attempted assassination linked to a terrorist organization" on Wednesday night.
The anti-terrorism section of the prosecutor's office in Paris announced the charges two days after the 15-year-old supporter of the Islamic State (ISIS) assaulted a Jewish teacher in Marseille.
The teenager, an ethnic Kurd from Turkey, told police he was ashamed he did not manage to kill his victim, 35-year-old Benjamin Amsellem.
Amsellem testified that he felt the Muslim attacker wanted to "decapitate" him.
The assault marks the third high-profile attack on Jews in France in recent months.
