Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked referred this morning in an interview on Reshet Bet to the initiative to request a retrial for Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's assassin, Yigal Amir.

"Yigal Amir murdered Prime Minister Rabin, he admitted that himself," Shaked noted. "The person who decides to approve or not to approve this request for retrial is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court."

According to Shaked, "I did not talk to her about it, but I am sure that neither she nor anyone else will approve it. Yigal Amir will sit in prison for the rest of his life.”

Shaked responded to the closing of the case against the spokesman for Breaking the Silence, after it turned out that he had lied in his claims of beating Palestinian Arabs. "I won’t get into the lies of Dean Issacharoff. The prosecution investigated, not under my guidance, but because a complaint was filed with the police [after Issacharoff claimed he had beaten an Arab until he bled - this, it turns out, to defame IDF soldiers as if even he succumbed to the general violent atmosphere against Palestinian Arabs]. I don't intent to provide a platform for the words of these liars.”
