Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer intends to tap Jordana Cutler, a senior executive at Meta (Facebook), as his office director, according to a report by Kan Reshet Bet.
Cutler previously served as Dermer's chief of staff while the latter was Israel's ambassador to the US. Beforehand she worked with him and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as an advisor for diaspora affairs in the Prime Minister's office. Cutler currently serves as Meta's public policy director for Israel and the Jewish diaspora.
Dermer, who is considered a confidant of Netanyahu, is expected to concentrate the Strategic Affairs Ministry's efforts in areas that are different from those of his predecessor: Iran, expanding normalization, and ties with the American government. These are currently the core issues of Israel's foreign policy that were until now dealt with by the National Security Council and the Foreign Ministry.
Earlier in the week, at a conference in Miami, Deremer stated that he hopes to employ the first employee in his ministry, which does not exist yet.
Cutler refused to comment on the matter, but several of those close to her affirmed the planned appointment.
