Two trains collided in southeastern Germany, leaving at least eight people dead and a hundred injured.
It is not yet known what caused the crash, which occurred by the Bavarian town of Bad Aibling, about 60 kilometers from Munich.
A representative from Bayerische Oberlandbahn, which runs both of the trains, says: "The accident is a huge shock for us. We are doing everything we can to help the travelers, relatives and workers."
Rescue workers are still trying to free trapped passengers, most of whom are believed to be commuters. Local media say that there are no children on board.
"This is the biggest accident we have had in years in this region and we have many emergency doctors, ambulances and helicopters on the scene," a police spokesperson told Associated Press.
