MK Kathrin Shitrit (Likud) wondered on Monday how former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who called for civil disobedience, has not yet been arrested and why no indictments have yet been filed against the leftist activist who allegedly spat on Minister Israel Katz.

"It is unbelievable that there are no arrests and no investigation and indictments against those violent bullies who call for rebellion and spit on MKs and ministers. I would like to remind everyone of the girls who spent months in detention over their behavior during the Disengagement. What message are we conveying?" she wondered in an interview with the haredi station Radio Kol Chai.

Commenting on the resources available to leftist activists in Israel, Shitrit said, "They have a lot of money, activists and advertisers. There is a well-organized and financed group that gives legal backing and encouragement to detainees."

Describing the ordeal that MKs from the right are going through during leftist protesters against them, she said, "They honk horns in our ears, they harass families of public officials. It is impossible. We have reached a point of no return."

"The police and the justice system need to do some soul-searching. The members of the opposition who are in the negotiation room [trying to reach a compromise on the judicial reform] understand the problem that led to the [need for a] reform of the justice system. But they have no choice, the demonstrators are breathing down their necks, they understand the need."

"The coalition unequivocally stressed that there will be a diversity of judges: From the periphery, haredim, Arabs and a diversity that will reflect the entire mosaic of the state of Israel. Every citizen will feel that he is represented in the court. In the three authorities - the judicial, the executive and the legislature - we need diversity. In the executive and the legislature, the people chose diversity. Now it is the duty of the judicial system to choose professionalism and diversity," said Shitrit.
