Smadar Shmueli, a former candidate on the Democratic Party list for the Knesset, crossed the lines to the right-wing camp after twenty-five years of support towrds the left, online activism and participation in demonstrations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
With the publication of her book "The Transition from Left to Right", Shmueli explains that "the transition was the result of an ideological crisis".
"I discovered his achievements and his historical role when I, a concerned citizen, actually stood on the wrong side of history through the blame of the Israeli media, which suffers from a sharp political bias".
According to Shmueli, the transition to the right was not without difficulties. "Many of my close friends boycotted me and I too took some space out of natural suspicion and the intention that the process would be an independent one", Shmueli wrote. "By this point I was already deflecting pressure consistently out of a decision that no one would play with my head anymore".
