A baby boy was found in a Beit Shemesh bank Thursday, after his parents apparently forgot him after completing their business at the bank.
The child, who is roughly one year old, was found in his baby carriage sometime after his parents left him in the bank.
The bank manager contacted police after the discovery, and with the help of others at the bank, calmed the frightened child.
Police notified local child welfare authorities, who took the baby into their custody while police worked to identify the boy’s parents.
After more than an hour of work to identify and then locate the child’s parents, police called the couple to appear at Beit Shemesh police station.
Beit Shemesh police have opened an investigation into the incident in conjunction with child welfare services.
