Yohai Demari, the Chairman of the Har Hevron Regional Council, called for the Israeli government to declare sovereignty on Hevron and allow the building of Jewish communities to continue there on Wednesday, following the murder of Baruch Mizrahi, hy"d.

"This is an opportunity to call on the Prime Minister and Defense Minister to exact a political price on those who seek to harm us," he said. "Only such a move will reduce the incentive for terrorism."

According to Demari, the reality today - where terrorists return home and receive a king's welcome, are killed and have streets named after them, or are captured only to be released - has encouraged a violent cycle of terrorism and violence.

The appropriate response, he said, is to exact a price - enacting full sovereignty over Hevron and the surrounding areas and to allow more Jewish communities to expand, according to the huge demand in the region. "[Israel] should not be afraid - not from public opinion and not from the Americans," he added.

Demari also had strong words for Knesset MKs who visited Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday despite the horrific murder.

"It is absurd that they don't put two and two together," he said, noting that [at the time] Abbas had not condemned the murder.

Chief Superintendent Baruch Mizrahi Hy''d, a husband and father of five, was murdered near Hevron on Monday by terrorists right before Passover began.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explicitly linked Mizrahi's murder with Palestinian Authority (PA) incitement against Jews Tuesday night.

"This reprehensible murder of a man who was traveling with his family to a meal for the Festival of Freedom is the result of the incitement for which the Palestinian Authority is responsible," he said.

Israel has already begun to enact more measures against the PA over the incident, including canceling a planned meeting between negotiating teams to continue peace talks.

Meanwhile, Abbas condemned the incident two days after Mizrahi's murder, on Wednesday night - a move which critics claim is merely a ploy to provide a boost to the PA's faltering image.
