Jewish prisoner Natan Peretz faces a full prison sentence despite his innocence, as his family cannot pay the court fine due today, July 16th. Natan Peretz has been imprisoned in Moldova for 6 months in harsh conditions, and has been subject to repeated violence and death threats. Unless something changes before tonight, Natan Peretz will miss his window of opportunity to be released.

Chava Peretz, Natan’s wife, told media outlets that she’s reached a desperate point. “I feel like I’ve failed my husband. The court is willing to release him if we pay the fine, but the costs are miles beyond our league. He’s at a dangerous prison, with lax security and thugs who have attempted to kill Natan three times already. If he doesn’t make it out now, I can only pray that he’ll survive until his sentence is up."

With only a few hours left until the deadline, the family are putting in intensive efforts to raise the full funds in time. A total of $200,000 is needed, and they are currently over $50,000 short. In a final plea to the public, Chava asked, “I need your help to bring my husband home! With less than a day left until the deadline, Natan’s life and freedom depend on the public’s generosity.”
