Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Tuesday morning sought to hold a special situation assessment following the recent security tensions, but in an embarrassing manner, was unable to connect to the conversation and did not participate in most of it, Channel 12 News reported.

According to the report, Lapid, who was supposed to lead the discussion, was on his way to visit the prison service and was unable to connect to the conversation using the red phone in his car, despite repeated attempts.

The person who actually conducted most of the discussion and consultation with senior officials of the defense establishment was Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

Sources who participated in the conversation said that Lapid was not the only one who had difficulty connecting and that the head of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) also experienced similar difficulties.

The Prime Minister's Office responded, "We do not comment on classified discussions."
