Prime Minister Netanyahu said during a visit Thursday to Assuta hospital in Ashdod that "the UN is the House of Lies."

He addressed the expected vote today in the UN General Assembly on a resolution which seeks to ban international recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. "Jerusalem is the capital of Israel - whether the UN wants it or not," he said.

"The State of Israel rejects this vote out of hand, even before it is accepted," Netanyahu said.

"It took 70 years for the United States to formally recognize this and it will take years for the United Nations to recognize it, too," he said, adding that “the attitude towards Israel among many countries on all continents is changing outside the walls of the UN, the House of Lies."

"Jerusalem is our capital, we will continue to build there, and embassies of countries, headed by the United States, will move to Jerusalem. It will happen. I would like to thank President Trump and Ambassador Haley for their courageous and uncompromising stand with Israel and the truth. Truth will triumph in the end.”

Diplomatic efforts of the Foreign Ministry, together with the Israeli delegation to the United Nations, continue to attempt to reduce the number of countries that support the proposal, and Israeli activity is coordinated with similar activities conducted by the American delegation to the UN.

Earlier, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon blasted the resolution as “meaningless.”

“Attempts to adopt resolutions which deny history itself are meaningless. We do not need the approval of international bodies to know that Jerusalem has always been the capital of the Jewish people, and always will be the capital of State of Israel,” the Ambassador concluded.
