Prominent Religious Zionist rabbis on Sunday gathered in preparation for their Monday meeting with IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot.
According to Army Radio, the rabbis expressed anger at Eizenkot's decisions regarding coed combat units and his promises to update those policies.
"If there isn't a significant change in both the atmosphere and what happens on the ground, we will not allow religious soldiers to join the officers' course," the rabbis said.
According to the report, Beit El Yeshiva Dean Rabbi Zalman Melamed said he does not intend to participate in Monday's meeting, since he does not believe there will be any real changes. A second rabbi also said he was also debating whether to participate in Monday's meeting.
The rabbis' main complaint is that despite all of the meetings and discussions, the IDF does not seem to properly understand how much of a rift the coed combat forces have created.
Chief IDF Rabbi Eyal Karim, who attended Sunday's meeting, was reported by several sources to be embarrassed, not knowing what to tell his colleagues.
