An indictment was filed Sunday to the Be'er Sheva District Court against an IDF soldier from Ashdod, who stole seven grenades from his army base with the intention to sell them.
According to the indictment, the soldier who served in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion in Neveh Yair stole four hand grenades and three M7290 flash grenades.
The purpose of the theft was to sell the grenades in order to make a profit.
The soldier hid the stolen grenades in his backpack, and the following day, left the base and took a bus to his home in Ashdod.
Upon reaching Ashdod, the soldier was detained as part of a Lachish police routine check, and upon searching his bag the grenades were seized.
The indictment charges the soldier for theft and bearing arms. The prosecution asked the court to keep the soldier under arrest until the end of legal proceedings against him.
