Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach, the venerated dean of Maalot Hatorah Yeshiva and the spiritual leader of the Hapeles newspaper, was hospitalized Sunday at Hadassah Ein-Kerem Hospital and underwent cardiac catheterization.
Relatives said that his condition is stable and that he feels good. He is expected to be released from the hospital shortly.
Rabbi Auerbach's doctors had decided to carry out the procedure due to his great weakness.
"In the course of routine examinations last week, it was decided that the Yeshiva Dean would undergo catheterization," said Chairman of Magen Laholeh, Binyamin Fisher. "This morning he underwent a planned catheterization and, bless G-d, everything was very successful. The Rabbi's doctors and the doctor who performed the catheterization are pleased. We hope that he will return to his regular daily routine soon."
