Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman leaves Israel Sunday night for a visit to New York City. Lieberman will meet Israel's ambassadors and consuls to the United States and Canada and brief them on the Israeli position regarding the latest events in the Middle East.

The minister will present the results of investigations regarding the participants in the Gaza flotilla, the elements that sponsored and financed them, and their connection to global jihad groups.

In addition, Lieberman will brief the representatives regarding the situation on the diplomatic front after the resumption of 'proximity talks' with the Palestinian Authority, and other topics. He will also hold a meeting with Israel's United Nations Ambassador Gabriela Shalev.

Lieberman will meet leaders from the Council of Presidents umbrella group of Jewish organizations, to discuss the strategic importance of Israeli-US ties and to hear how Jewish communities are holding up under the global de-legitimization campaign being waged against Israel by radical Islamic and anti-Semitic groups.

Lieberman's deputy, Danny Ayalon, boarded a plane to New York Sunday morning. He was scheduled to hold briefings for central news organizations, meet congressmen and other officials, and talk to Jewish leaders. Lieberman will return to Israel Wednesday, and Ayalon will follow him back on Friday.
