Popular Israeli actress Gal Gadot took to Instagram on Sunday, where she expressed support for President Isaac Herzog’s speech, in which he called on the Netanyahu government and the opposition to reach a compromise on the proposed judicial reform plan.

"In such complex times, when there is a lot of polarization and division around, it is important to hear voices that call for unity and joint work. Calmly, attentively and cooperatively," she wrote.

“The solution will come only if we work together,” added Gadot.

The actress, who is known for role in “Wonder Woman”, has in the past commented on the goings on in Israel. In 2019, she appeared to back up Israeli model Rotem Sela, who chided the Likud over its campaign rhetoric, declaring Israel to be a state of all its citizens.

After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to Sela and noted that Israel is not, in fact a “state of all its citizens”, but a Jewish state, Gadot weighed in, writing that the issue wasn’t a matter of politics, but of “tolerance”.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself," wrote Gadot, adding, “This isn’t a matter of left-wing or right-wing, Jewish versus Arab, secular or religious. It is about dialogue for peace, equality and our tolerance for each other.”

That year, during a visit to Israel, Gadot said her decision to consistently spotlight her Israeli identity is in part a response to anti-Semitism.

In 2021, she was reportedly asked by her bosses at Warner Bros. to take back a tweet on the Israeli-Palestinian Arab conflict. This came after Gadot shared a heartfelt plea for peace on both sides of the conflict in the Middle East.

Gadot has come under fire in the past for being Israeli and for serving in the IDF. Shortly after her film "Wonder Woman" came out, it was banned by a Tunisian court because Gadot had defended Israel's counterterrorism Operation Protective Edge on Facebook.

Lebanon also banned the film on the grounds of a long-standing boycott of Israel, while Qatar banned the movie due to Gadot's Israeli heritage. Jordan, however, decided to allow the movie.
