Miriam Sarah Blau, daughter of the late Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Blau, who drowned a month-and-a-half ago, was wed his week at a ceremony in Beitar Illit, south of Jerusalem.

The wedding was attended by hundreds of friends and relatives.

The Kikar Shabbat site reported that on the advice of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, a leading haredi rabbinical figure, the wedding was not postponed and took place on the date already set before the terrible tragedy.

Two days before Rosh Hashanah, Blau took his wife and 15 children for a holiday trip in the north of the country.

After visiting various burial places of tzaddikim (pious rabbis), they arrived at the Jordan River, where he saw that his 16-year-old daughter was struggling in the water. Blau jumped in to save his daughter, but drowned during the rescue attempt. His daughter was later recovered safely.
