Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu opened the Likud party's faction meeting Monday by addressing the security situation, after three stabbing attacks rocked Israel in less than 12 hours.

"We are at a very challenging time - first of all with security challenges," he began. "There are actions to be taken here in the Knesset, to enact a minimum sentence for rock and firebomb throwers, as well as fines against the parents [of minors who commit either - ed.]."

One item on the agenda, he stressed, is completing various security fences around Israel's borders. Last week, the Defense Ministry announced it had nearly completed a 30 million shekel ($7,751,539project to build smart fences around communities near Gaza.

"We will complete the surrounding of the State of Israel's borders with security fences," Netanyahu said. "Every sensible person understands the importance of these actions at all times and especially at this time."

"These actions require responsible and cohesive leadership and it starts here with Likud."
