Haredi soldier Haim Treitel, who was wounded during the fighting in the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday completed the IDF officers' course, about six months after signing on for career service.
Treitel's parents attended the graduation ceremony.
Treitel enlisted in the Givati Brigade before the war, but was transferred out of a combat role due to a medical issue. Following the outbreak of the war, he underwent basic training again and returned to combat service in the brigade.
During the IDF's ground operation in Gaza, Treitel was hit by sniper fire and wounded in the leg. He was evacuated to the hospital and subsequently underwent a complex rehabilitation process lasting more than a year.
During his rehabilitation, Treitel returned to IDF service, this time as an assistant to Lt. Col. Avigdor Dickstein, head of the haredi branch of the IDF's Manpower Division. He later signed on for career service and on Tuesday completed the officers' course.
In a post published Tuesday night, Treitel reflected on his journey: "I'm completing a significant chapter in my life. From a Bnei Brak boy, today I become an Israeli officer. I went through this process with some of the finest people in the country and the IDF, from all sectors."
Treitel added, "This is a course made up of officers of the generation of revival and the generation of leaders that emerged after October 7. The responsibility is ours. It is a privilege to be part of this, and no less than that, a tremendous responsibility."
"The memory of the fallen is always in my heart," he concluded.
