Rambam Medical Center responded on Sunday to the allegations made by bereaved father Yehoshua Shani about the treatment received by his nephew Eitan, an IDF soldier who was seriously wounded in Lebanon, as well as other wounded soldiers hospitalized at the facility.
The hospital's response came after Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to conduct an urgent and thorough investigation into the allegations and present him with its findings.
"Rambam Medical Center provides high-quality, professional care to all patients, and certainly to IDF soldiers, through a skilled and experienced medical staff," the hospital said in a statement.
Rambam added that "over the past several months, the hospital has treated hundreds of wounded soldiers, some of them in serious condition, who received the best possible care at Israel's leading trauma center."
Addressing the allegations directly, the hospital stated: "We take every allegation of inappropriate treatment of our patients with the utmost seriousness and investigate each one thoroughly."
