A small group of protesters from the Kedosh Yaakov yeshiva, affiliated with the Jerusalem Faction (Hapeleg Hayerushalmi), demonstrated Tuesday night against the proposed Draft Law.
The demonstration, held outside the home of Shas MK Yinon Azoulay in Ashdod, was held as the bill awaits a decision by Lithuanian-haredi leader Rabbi Dov Lando regarding whether Degel Hatorah MKs will support the legislation.
In recent days, Shas MKs and ministers, who are expected to vote in favor of the bill, have become frequent targets of Jerusalem Faction activists.
Police deployed in large numbers at the scene due to concerns that protesters might attempt to break into MK Azoulay’s home.
Azoulay, who was not home during the protest, arrived after it ended and entered his residence under police escort. One protester who attempted to assault him was immediately arrested but was released about an hour later.
