Hundreds of haredi extremists protested a shop in Jerusalem that sells cellphones that do not have Kosher authorization from the Rabiniacal Board for Communications on Sunday evening.

At the beginning of the evening, police allowed the protesters to demonstrate, and officers blocked the road to vehicular traffic. Still, only an hour after the demonstration began, the protesters began to confront officer.

In videos that were published this evening, a group of mounted police can be seen galloping through the crowd of haredi protesters. National security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir asked Commissioner Kobi Shabtai to investigate the officers' conduct and discern whether the use of force was justified.

The police are accusing the protesters of spraying pepper spray and throwing eggs at officers who separated the protesters from the cell phone shop.

The police stated: "At the beginning of the evening, police operated to allow the demonstration to go on lawfully, but at one point, protesters began to try to damage the cell phone shop while physically pushing the officers who separated between them and the shop.

At a specific point, criminals sprayed pepper spray and threw eggs at the officers. After the commanding officer gave the order to disperse the demonstration, with no success. The riots continued while eggs and other objects continued to be thrown at officers; police forces pushed the rioters away and detained one suspect who was caught throwing eggs at officers.

At this time, police forces are working to keep the peace in the area. Israel Police will continue to allow the freedom of protest within the boundaries of the law but will not allow vandalism, violent riots, and any attempt to harm business owners, civilians, or officers,"
