Major-General Tomer Bar, commander of the Israeli Air Force, on Saturday evening held a situational assessment following information from the US regarding the F-35 fighter jets, an IDF spokesperson said.
The information regarded a flaw in the ejection system in the F-35s captain seats.
According to the manufacturer's instructions, a specific test must be conducted to ensure that this system works properly.
At the end of the situational assessment, Bar instructed that all of the IAF's F-35 planes be examined before their first flight. This will be done by technical staff and the process is expected to be completed in the coming days.
Bar also emphasized that the inspections must be careful and thorough, in order to ensure that a high safety standard is upheld.
