Over 142,000 new job seekers since the start of the war

Roughly 8,000 people registered for unemployment benefits in one week of war, most of them women and mothers of children under 18.

In December 2025, the number of job seekers in the high-tech sector stood at 16,300 - double the figure recorded in December 2022 - according to a special report published Sunday morning by the Employment Service.

Job vacancies surged to a three-year high in December, with demand for workers climbing across the economy. Construction and hospitality are leading the scramble for staff, even as high-tech shows signs of recovery.

'For a significant percentage of job seekers, unemployment payments became an obstacle to returning to work,' Employment Service head says.

From Thursday until this morning, 18,970 new jobseekers registered.
