Hundreds of haredi protesters arrives Monday night at the home of a draft-evader in Modi'in to protest his arrest.

The protesters arrived following an alert sent out on the "Color Black" system, which warns subscribers of arrest attempts.

During the arrest attempt, clashes broke out between the police forces at the scene and the protesters. Several protesters attempted to break into the residential building where the draft-evader lives, provoking clashes with the police.

Later on Monday night, the arrested draft-evader was released.

Responding to the incident, police said they were forced to evacuate the military police officers who had attempted to conduct the arrest.

The IDF responded: "Last night (Monday), as part of the IDF’s ongoing enforcement of the Defense Service Law against deserters and draft evaders, the Military Police conducted a proactive enforcement activity in the city of Modi’in."

"During the activity, a large number of individuals gathered at the scene and acted in an organized manner in an attempt to disrupt the Military Police activity, interfere with the arrest, and endanger the safety of the soldiers.

"The Israel Police arrived at the scene and acted to restore order and disperse the gatherings. The incident involved significant resistance and disruption to the activities of security forces in the area.

"The IDF strongly condemns any attempt to interfere with or harm its soldiers while they are lawfully carrying out their duties. Enforcement activity against deserters and draft evaders will continue in an equitable manner and in accordance with the law and within the scope of authority."
