MK Gilad Kariv, among the leaders of the Democrats party and a Reform "rabbi," has wished the Arab parties success in the upcoming Knesset elections, which will be held on October 27.
In an Arabic-language Facebook post, Kariv said that the Democrats are not competing with the Arab parties for the Arab vote, but rather wish them success.
Kariv explained that the success of the Arab parties is important because Arab representation is in the interest of both Arab society and Israeli democracy.
According to Kariv, the Democrats are appealing to Arabs who do not support the Arab parties but want to influence the shape of Israel's political map, as well as to young people who have not voted in previous elections.
In an interview with the Israeli-Arab news channel Hala TV, Kariv said that the Democrats are calling on young Arabs to go out and vote in the elections, because the Democrats take them seriously and "see them as equals."
