Ukrainian Commander Risks It All To Save Troops

Ukrainian Army company commander Vladislav Polsky is making headlines after rescuing two of his soldiers who were seriously wounded and left exposed in open terrain under threat from Russian drones. Polsky personally entered the area in a civilian pickup truck, loaded the wounded soldiers, and brought them to safety.

The two soldiers were seriously wounded by Russian FPV drones of the Molniya model after they seized Russian military positions. They suffered open fractures in their legs and were unable to evacuate themselves from the area.

An initial attempt was made to reach the wounded soldiers using a robotic platform sent to evacuate them. But it too was hit, leaving the two soldiers unprotected in the open as Russian drones continued to threaten their lives.

As the command post searched for another way to evacuate the two soldiers, Polsky decided to carry out the rescue himself. He rushed toward them without having time to put on body armor and drove a civilian pickup truck into the area where they were located.

When he reached the wounded soldiers, the company commander personally loaded both men into the pickup's bed. He then quickly drove away and brought them to safety.

The operation has drawn attention because of the risk Polsky took to reach his two subordinates after the first rescue attempt failed. Remaining in the area without the ability to evacuate would have left them exposed to continued attacks by Russian drones.
