A large brawl erupted Saturday at the Yamit 2000 water park in Holon, resulting in the arrest of 12 suspects and the closure of the site to visitors. Two security guards were lightly injured during the violence.
According to police, the confrontation began following a dispute between a group of visitors and lifeguards, apparently after the visitors were asked to turn down the volume of their music. The disagreement quickly escalated into a large-scale fight, with chairs reportedly thrown near one of the pools.
Police officers from the Holon station and the Tel Aviv District were dispatched to the water park and brought the situation under control. Twelve suspects, reportedly from southern Israel, were arrested and taken for questioning. Police said the incident appeared to have a criminal background.
Following the incident, Holon Mayor Shai Keinan announced new restrictions on entry to Yamit 2000. Under the decision, the water park will be limited to Holon residents on weekends and holidays.
He said the decision was made following a series of violent incidents at the site. He added that, in his view, it was no longer possible to continue operating under the existing conditions.
