Three-year-old Yael Rivka Betzalel of Jerusalem’s Ramot neighborhood died this morning (Wednesday) at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in the city.
Yael had been hospitalized for approximately two weeks while sedated and on a ventilator after choking on a grape she ate at home.
Yael was the daughter of Yitzhak and Chana Betzalel. She had been hospitalized for the past two weeks following the choking incident, until she passed away this morning.
The tragedy struck the family at an especially difficult time, just one week before the wedding of Yael’s older sister. Alongside preparations for the wedding, the family must now accompany their young daughter to her final resting place.
Yael Rivka’s funeral will depart today at 4:00 p.m. from the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem. She will be laid to rest in the Yemenite section of Har HaMenuchot.
