A five-year-old child died Sunday afternoon after being found unconscious inside a vehicle in Lod, with doctors at Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital ultimately declaring his death.
The child was found in critical condition, without a pulse or signs of breathing, and showing symptoms of heatstroke. Emergency teams at the scene began advanced resuscitation efforts before evacuating him to the hospital in critical condition.
According to information provided to emergency responders at the scene, the child had been left inside the vehicle for an extended period. MDA senior medic Haim Shavit and medic Yosef Yitzhak Sagiv said: “We received a report about a child found unconscious in a vehicle. When we arrived, they brought us the roughly five-year-old child, unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing and suffering from signs of heatstroke."
“We began performing advanced resuscitation measures, including chest compressions and ventilations, and evacuated him by critical care ambulance to the hospital while his condition was defined as critical and we were fighting for his life," they said.
United Hatzalah paramedic Natanel Eitan and volunteers Aryeh Mandelson and Itzik Mishkovsky said: “We were told at the scene that the child was left in the vehicle and had been there for a prolonged period. We provided him with initial medical assistance, and afterwards he was taken to a hospital in critical condition."
Doctors at Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital later confirmed that the child had died.
