Staff Sergeant Noam Hamburger, 23 years old from Atlit, fell during operational activity in northern Israel, the IDF said.

Hamburger served as a technology and maintenance combat soldier in the 9th Battalion, 401st Brigade.

During the incident in which Staff Sergeant Noam Hamburger fell, an IDF soldier was severely injured, and a non-commissioned officer was lightly injured.

"The soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital, and their families have been notified," the IDF said.

An investigation of the incident found that Hezbollah launched two explosive drones at the Biranit post, an IDF post located between Kibbutz Sasa and Moshav Netua, one kilometer from the Lebanese border and inside Israeli territory. The attack occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m.

As a result of the first drone’s impact on the post, Staff Sgt. Noam Hamburger was killed. Two additional soldiers were seriously and moderately wounded and evacuated for medical treatment at Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. The impact of the second drone caused no injuries.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded, "My wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Staff Sergeant Noam Hamburger, of blessed memory, who fell near the northern border."

"Noam, of blessed memory, from the town of Atlit, fought heroically to defend our communities and citizens against the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

"On behalf of all citizens of Israel, we embrace Noam's family and loved ones, and wish a speedy and full recovery to his comrades who were injured in this difficult incident. May his memory be a blessing."
