Large forces from the Jerusalem District Police and Border Police units have been operating since Sunday morning near the IDF recruitment office in Jerusalem, following a protest by extremist haredi demonstrators that escalated into a violent and unlawful disturbance of public order.
The protest, which began as a demonstration against conscription procedures, quickly turned into a direct confrontation with police.
According to police reports, rioters caused disturbances at the scene, attempted to breach security barriers placed around the building, hurled objects, and physically assaulted police officers and forces deployed in the area.
During the clashes, one suspect was arrested after attacking a policewoman at the scene, and another suspect was detained for disorderly conduct.
Police forces are working to push the demonstrators away from the roads in order to prevent the blockage of major traffic routes in the area.
