
US State Department deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott on Wednesday issued a statement following US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s meeting with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar in Washington.
“Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to discuss regional security and humanitarian efforts, including implementation of the President’s 20 Point Plan in Gaza,” the statement said.
It added that the two “also discussed Syria and Lebanon, reaffirming their commitment to close collaboration in pursuit of peace and stability in the Middle East.”
Commenting on the meeting in a post on social media, Rubio said, “Met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to discuss regional security and humanitarian efforts. The US and Israel are committed to close collaboration in pursuit of peace and stability in the Middle East.”
Sa’ar noted following the meeting that he and Rubio had a "good discussion" on mutual opportunities and challenges in the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and beyond. "I told the Secretary that the renewal of our relations with Bolivia is part of an important process of strengthening Israel’s ties with Latin American countries," Sa'ar stated.
Sa'ar also welcomed the Trump Administration's steps against the International Criminal Court and said, "Our unbreakable alliance has never been stronger!"
