On the backdrop of the passing of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, authorizing a post-war plan for the Gaza Strip, Hamas political bureau member Muhammad Nazzal said that the terrorist organization wants its conflict to remain focused against the “Israeli occupation”, and not to the entire world.
Nazzal made clear that if a ceasefire were to be reached in Gaza, the Palestinian Arab people will continue their "resistance" everywhere else where they can confront the “occupation”. He stressed that the only solution to the conflict is for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian Arab people to be recognized, and for the occupation to be defeated.
Nazzal’s comments came in a November 19, 2025 interview on Al-Jazeera and were translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
"We want to reach common denominators, agreements, and understandings with the international forces, because we do not want to war to shift from a war with the occupation to a war with the entire world,” he stated.
"The confrontation continues. Even if the war in Gaza was stopped at this stage, and even if the confrontation was put on hold, it continues wherever the Palestinian resistance can confront the occupation,” Nazzal clarified.
He continued, "We are facing an open conflict. The only solution for this conflict is to comply with the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. If people turn their backs to the rights of the Palestinian people, I believe that this will mean that the resistance continues.”
"If the Gaza Strip entered some kind of hudna or a period [of ceasefire], the Palestinian people everywhere else will continue their resistance, until the goal of defeating the occupation is accomplished," stated the Hamas official.
