Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who serves as a member of the Diplomatic-Security Cabinet, on Wednesday morning harshly criticized the Israeli government's policy regarding the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza, warning that the aid endangers Israel's goals in the war.

In a statement, Smotrich explained, "Managing the civilian efforts in Gaza in a way that it does not reach Hamas' hands was and remains the most critical component in defeating Hamas and winning the war. This is an integral part of the war effort and it is much more important than another division and more fighting effort. Without understanding and acting on this, we will not be able to win."

He also noted that a new and clear guideline was issued on the matter and accepted by the Cabinet prior to approval of the January deal with Hamas.

"I have no complaints against the Chief of Staff," he clarified. "My criticism is directed towards the Prime Minister, who does not enforce the implementation of the political echelon's policies by the IDF."

"Bringing in logistical aid which reaches Hamas is a step which I am not willing to be a partner to - period!" he warned. "Continuing the military's treading water and bringing humanitarian aid in to Hamas when our hostages are there - is not an option."

The primary responsibility for this matter rests with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he added.

"Begin the battle to defeat Hamas, conquer Gaza, and place a temporary military government there until another solution is found; bringing the hostages home and starting [US President Donald] Trump's Gaza plan - or this government has no right to exist."
