Moshe Mualem, a 32-year-old checkpoint guard in the Jerusalem area, was injured in the shooting attack this morning at his checkpoint.
MDA paramedics evacuated him to hospital care. He was stabilized in the trauma ward and underwent imaging tests due to the gunshot wound in his leg.
While treating him, the team discovered a wallet in his pocket which had prevented a piece of shrapnel from injuring his leg.
Mualem recounted the incident: “I saw a white Skoda with all its doors open, and every terrorist shooting in a different direction. All of the forces present immediately shot back. I felt a round strike my leg, and looked for cover.”
“On my other leg, I had a wallet in my pocket. You can see that shrapnel hit it, but the wallet stopped it from penetrating into me.”
