Richard Goldstone, who authored the report criticizing the IDF's activities during Operation Cast Lead in 2009, has signed a statement criticizing Hamas, Kan 11 News reported on Thursday.
The statement, drafted by former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak, denounces the crimes committed by Hamas and say they "shock one’s conscience."
In addition, the signatories to the statement called for the immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages.
Goldstone's daughter, who is currently volunteering in Israel, said that her father had no hesitation as to whether to sign the statement.
Goldstone wrote in 2011, two years after writing the damning report, that "If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document."
He added that he had hoped the inquiry would have begun “a new era of even-handedness at the UN Human Rights Council, whose history of bias against Israel cannot be doubted.”
Goldstone went on to note that his report recommended that each party investigate the incidents that were raised. Israel did so; Hamas did not.
