Ivanka Trump, the Jewish daughter of former US President Donald Trump, posted on Instagram that she has participated in a challah-baking ceremony to pray for those affected by the war in Gaza.
"In preparation for Shabbat, I gathered with friends in the community to bake challah and pray for the safe return of the hostages captured by Hamas and the strength and protection of the innocent people who are suffering so greatly," she shared.
Challah-baking ceremonies, when the Biblical gifts of dough are separated, are considered in Jewish tradition to be a time of God's favor. Jewish women traditionally recite prayers and requests at the time of separating the dough.
Ivanka's father, former President Donald Trump, has also spoken out in support of Israel since the beginning of the war. He has also threatened to fight supporters of Hamas in the USA, saying, "Anyone who supports Hamas - we will find you and we will deport you."
