Hundreds of reservists marched this evening (Sunday) from the Habima Square in Tel Aviv towards the Kiriya Bridge in a march under the slogan "Reservists without conditions, guarding the home and loyal to the spirit of the IDF".
The march comes against the background of the increasing calls to refuse reserve duty due to the judicial reform legislation. Among the marchers are infantry, pilots, intelligence personnel, and former commanders in the various units of the IDF.
Lt. Col. Boaz Kokia said during the march: "We came to express a clear position against the refusals to serve and that we are against the introduction of politics into the IDF. As a reservist and a bereaved father who opposed the previous coalition, I did not think to stop volunteering in the IDF. I call on everyone who calls for threats to refuse to retract it, and if not, the IDF must remove them from service."
Avihail Peled, who was captured in the Yom Kippur War, joined the marchers and said: "I am here because everyone who is here is on a mission for the nation. Everyone who is here to say clearly: we will not allow the Land of Israel to be taken away from the people of Israel. What is happening today is incomprehensible, and we are here until they understand that we are one nation with one heart."
Yoel Shilo, one of the organizers of the march, commented: "We came to be the voice of the silent majority, of hundreds of thousands of reservists who know that the introduction of politics into the army will harm it. We condemn the letters of refusal of all kinds, and we will always come to stand up to protect Israel and the IDF at any cost."
