An extreme heat wave that was named "Kleon" is hitting Israel starting this morning (Thursday) and will continue at least until Sunday.

Today there will be a rise in temperatures and significant heat throughout Israel. In most areas of the country, it will be hotter and drier than usual. In the coastal region, significant humidity will be felt. Heavy to extreme heat will prevail in most regions of the country.

Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, it will be hot and dry in the mountains and the interior of the country and humid on the coastal plain. In most areas, the temperatures will continue to be extremely high.

The maximum temperatures predicted today are: Jerusalem 34 degrees, Tel Aviv 32, Haifa 30, Safed 33, Beit Shean 42, Beer Sheva 37, and Eilat up to 43 degrees at noon.

Due to the expected heavy heat wave, fires in open areas are prohibited until Monday night. At the same time, the Israel Electric Company is preparing for peak demand and has increased its field teams that are on high alert. The company asked the public to be vigilant and report any case of danger to power lines.
